Investment Immigration Conditions
Dutch Investment Immigration Program
To permanently immigrate into the Netherlands one has to qualify for a residence permit that can be extended indefinitely. Having been legally resident in the Netherlands for more than 5 years one then qualifies for applying and obtaining a Dutch Passport.
The Netherlands has a program that allows investors investing over 1.25 mio euro into the Netherlands economy to obtain such a residence permit. There are two ways in which this money can be invested:
- Investment into an existing company that is based in the Netherlands. The investment can be done directly or through a participation fund or contractual partnership.
- Investment into certain funds. Either a fund that, according to the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs, falls within the socalled SEED regulation or into a participation fund that is or becomes a member of the Netherlands Association of Participation Funds NVP.
Investing in real estate for private occupation is excluded.
Conditions
- A minimum amount of €1,250,000 is invested in one of the two ways stated above.
- The amount to be invested is deposited into a bank account of a Dutch bank or a bank of an EU Member State with a branch in the Netherlands.
- The investment has an added value for the Dutch economy. This will be assessed by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency RVO . The Netherlands Enterprise Agency uses a points system. The added value is there if the investment meets 2 of the following 3 criteria:
- Within 5 years at least 10 jobs will be created.
- A contribution is made to increasing the innovativeness of the Dutch company; this may be proven through, among other things, the introduction of a patent, investing in both technological and non-technological innovation or investing in a company that belongs to a top sector.
- There is another, non-financial added value, such as specific knowledge, networks, clients and active involvement of the investor.
Note that no substantive checks will be made for investments in a participation fund that is or becomes a member of the Netherlands Association of Participation Funds (NVP) or in a seed fund recognised by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy.
- The capital which is invested has not been gained through illegitimate means. The Dutch Immigration and Naturalisation Agency (IND) can ask information about this from the Netherlands Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU-Netherlands). You give permission to investigate the origin of your capital abroad.
- A valid passport or other travel document.
- Completion of the Antecedents Certificate form. In this certificate prior of offences or crimes need to be indicated.
- Taking a TB (tuberculosis) test after arriving in the Netherlands.
